With his wife, three young children and a life-threatening injury, Michael Jackson had the freedom to be the fisherman he wanted to be.
But now, the 50-year-old actor has found himself caught up in a fishing charter business with his wife’s partner, the legendary producer/songwriter Rufa Fish Therapy.
According to The Sun newspaper, Jackson has become the biggest fishing charter operator in Australia after launching his company, Rufabutts.
Jackson is the highest-paid celebrity to operate a fishing boat since former US President Jimmy Carter in 1980.
While Jackson’s wife, Michelle, runs the business, Fish Therapy has turned to her husband to help the business expand.
“I think it’s time for him to take a look at himself and take a real, real hard look at how he is doing it,” Fish Therapy’s manager, Simon McLeod, told The Sun.
The website of Rufacutts states that Fish Therapy is “the premier, award-winning fishing charmers in the world”.
Its website says the company was founded by Rufu’a Fish, Jackson’s first wife and the singer’s mother, in 2001.
Fish Therapy has been operating in Australia since 2004, but has yet to open its doors to charter customers.
This is the third charter run for Fish Therapy since 2008.
It is one of the world’s top fishing companies, with operations in the Caribbean, South Pacific, New Zealand and the United States.
In 2009, the company partnered with actor-songwriter Jamie Foxx to create a documentary, “The Great Fish of Australia”, which was based on Jackson’s life and career.
However, Fish Therapy has yet another charter run to follow, as it is seeking a new charter partner for its next run.
More to come.
