It’s time to take a look at the NFL teams that will have their best chances at a championship.
With the Super-Bowl on the horizon, here’s a look back at the teams that have the most potential to make a big splash.
Carolina Panthers – QB Cam Newton and RB LeGarrette Blount will be the favorites to win the MVP award.
Newton is the clear No. 1 overall pick in this year’s draft and the most dynamic running back in the league.
He’s also one of the most underrated players in the NFL.
Blount is the reigning Defensive Player of the Year.
The Panthers have the best pass defense in the NFC South, led by defensive end Greg Hardy.
If Blount and Newton can stay healthy, this offense could be one of this season’s most explosive.
The team is already planning for a playoff run.
New Orleans Saints – RB Mark Ingram is in a tough spot.
He missed most of the first half of the season after tearing his ACL in the first game of the regular season, but he was able to return for the playoffs.
He is one of only four players in NFL history to record 1,000 yards in his first two seasons, along with Ronnie Brown, Reggie Bush and LeGarre Woodard.
He also has the NFL’s second-highest rushing total behind Rashard Mendenhall.
The Saints are the only team to have two first-round picks, which will give Ingram plenty of opportunities to build on his early success.
San Diego Chargers – Running back Melvin Gordon is entering the final year of his rookie contract.
He has been a huge piece for the Chargers, leading the NFL in rushing in each of his first three seasons.
The Chargers will need Gordon to stay healthy for a championship run.
Green Bay Packers – Quarterback Aaron Rodgers has the best arm in the game.
He’ll have the Green Bay offense to keep pace with the NFL elite, which includes the New York Jets and the Carolina Panthers.
He leads the NFL with more than 1,500 passing yards, but will have to step up if the Packers are going to make it to the Super.
Houston Texans – Defensive tackle Jadeveon Clowney is the NFL leader in sacks, but the Texans are the team to beat.
They’ve won three Super Bowls and have one of those players in Jadevean Clowney, who could be the best defensive tackle in the entire league.
Arizona Cardinals – Quarterbacks Carson Palmer and Carson Wentz are the NFL leaders in passing yards.
The Cardinals will need both of them to be the league’s best.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers – The Tampa Bay defense is one that has been in the top 10 of points allowed per game every year since 2006.
The Bucs are the best team in the AFC South and will have the opportunity to make some noise.
Seattle Seahawks – The Seahawks offense has been very successful, and the Seahawks will have a chance to do the same with quarterback Russell Wilson.
The offensive line will have an issue keeping Wilson upright, which could put pressure on the offensive line.
Kansas City Chiefs – QB Alex Smith is in the final season of his contract and is the only quarterback in the Chiefs history to win a Super Bowl.
Smith is the best passer in the National Football League, which is a great way to stay relevant in a league with a ton of parity.
Dallas Cowboys – Running backs Ezekiel Elliott and Ezekiel Taylor will have huge seasons.
Elliott has rushed for 1,066 yards in each year since his rookie season.
Taylor is the leading rusher in the Superdome era and the only player in the history of the game to reach 1,400 rushing yards.
He could also have a breakout season.
Minnesota Vikings – The Vikings have the NFL top scoring offense, led in rushing by Adrian Peterson.
The defense will have issues keeping the Vikings’ star running back from scoring, but that’s where the offensive lines problems lie.
Detroit Lions – The Lions offense has some question marks, especially in the secondary.
But they’ll have to deal with one of their best pass rushers in Darius Slay, who has 1,904 career sacks.
Detroit has the league best passing defense, led primarily by the safeties who are now retired.
Miami Dolphins – The Dolphins offense will have its struggles, but they’ll still have a ton to play for.
Miami has one of just four teams in the AFL to have five first- or second-round draft picks.
Carolina Falcons – Quarterbacker Deion Jones has a chance for a big season.
The Falcons will need him to be one-of-the-best in the business.
Buffalo Bills – The Bills offense will be one to watch.
The Bills have a huge pass defense, but it could fall apart if the offensive linemen aren’t healthy.
New England Patriots – QuarterBACK Tom Brady is in his third season in New
